A behind-the-scenes project that captures musicians of South Asian heritage in the moments around their music, around the world. Featuring authentic and raw moments – be that during practice or rehearsals, in the recording studio, at sound checks, backstage, or unique perspectives or views of the actual performance.

Somewhere along the way, I found a way to bring together my passion for photography and music....and I guess it helps that I'm basically married to my work.

You see, my husband is Gurbani Sangeet and Indian Classical musician, Manbir Singh, and we have now been married for over 7 years.

Over the years, I've spent time in and around his journey in music, watching the hard work, the challenges, the joys and just generally multi-dimensional experience of his journey (all while also meeting many other musicians because of it). And, of course, I've happened to capture a chunk of it on camera.

What I've come to understand and respect is the juxtaposition of it all - the constant balance and dance between vulnerability and confidence, solitude and community, and even between practice and performance. And my exposure and my lived experience in this allows me to have a different and more considered perspective and approach to capturing musicians through their journey.

This IS MY PASSION PROJECT, FLO, WHICH captures this journey around the musIC FOR SOUTH ASIAN MUSICIANS WORLDWIDE.
